Last Sunday saw our annual Pet Service. A motley crew of dogs and cats joined the congregation, even managing to bark at appropriate points during the service. Shelagh and Meisie the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (featured below) are regulars at St Mark's services. Meisie is also the official mascot for the Pub Quiz team which meets at the The Alex pub on the first Monday of the month.

Yesterday, Henry Chitsenga came to speak to the congregation about The Sub-Saharan Children's Hope Trust - SuchHope for short. SuchHope is one of the nominated charities that St Mark's is supporting in 2013 (you can find out more about the process here, and see the SuchHope website here).

Ken and Jean Allen, long-standing members of the St Mark's congregation, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary today. They renewed their vows in front of friends and family, and there were a few tears shed by the females in the congregation! Ken and Jean were married on the 26th September 1953 at St Mary's, as at the time, St Mark's was not licensed for weddings. After the service, we celebrated with cake and bubbles, and got to see some of the photos from their special day many years ago. We wish Ken and Jean every good wish for the future.
