Our sermon today involved a discussion on the questions, "What are the good things about being a Christian?" and "What are the good things about being a member of this church for you?" The responses included the following:

This year's Christian Aid concert on 17th May was another resounding success. Everyone enjoyed a great mixture of words and music with good food and wine, served in candlelight. Very many thanks to all those who performed and the great team who helped set up and clear up the hall. The final figure of the proceeds is yet to be verified but it looks as though we have cleared £850, after expenses, thanks to the generosity of the audience and those unable to attend who donated the following morning.

One of the actions arising from our Church Committee away day this year was to review what provision there was for men at the church. One idea was to start a Men's Group - this meets quarterly in the local area. The first evening was a tour of the micro brewery at the Hand in Hand pub in Wimbledon Village, and was a great success. The next meet will be on 17 September, where there will be a sausage and butchery demonstration in the church hall, followed by drinks in The Alex afterwards.

Wishing one and all a very Happy Easter.

Holy Week was busy at St Mark's with a whole variety of services held throughout the week to cater for a wide range of ages, from all-age multi-sensory to a contemplative Mass of the Dawn for early risers at 05:30 today. The church was prepared on Saturday with a large number of remembrance lilies, bought by members of the congregation.
