Inclusive Church

St Mark’s is a member of Inclusive Church ( http://www.inclusive-church.com/).

This is a network of individuals and organisations within the Church of England that seeks to raise awareness about the way people feel excluded by the Church.  It was set up in 2003 after the deep unease felt by many within the Church of England by the resignation of The Revd Dr Jeffrey John as Bishop of Reading.

The aim of Inclusive Church is “to celebrate and maintain the traditional inclusivity and diversity of the Anglican Communion”.  In particular Inclusive Church calls on the Church “to open the ministries of deacon, priest and bishop to those so called to serve by God, regardless of their sex, race or sexual orientation”.

As a member of Inclusive Church, we try hard to welcome and include all people who come through our doors regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, age and disability.
